Today the Muslim Ummah faces a similar struggle to hold onto Islam. The West is openly attacking Islam and without any fear or opposition to their attacks they are distorting the image of Islam by associating it with violence, backwardness, oppression and so on. The West like the Quraish in attempting to defend themselves and their way of life are attacking and damaging parts of Islam that they find unacceptable to their own. Whilst the attacks against Islam may vary in scope, in defending the deen we must understand that the deen is nothing to be embarrassed about. This contribution, which is channelled through the #PEGASE[1] mechanism, is being funded by the European Union (€15.5 million) and the Government of the Netherlands (c.€1.0 million earmarked specifically for PA salaries in the justice sector). "The European Union will continue to support the Palestinian National Consensus Government as it seeks to exercise full government responsibilities in both the West Bank and Gaza. The Gaza Strip constitutes an integral part of the territory occupied in 1967 and will be part of a future State of Palestine. At this critical period, we are pleased to demonstrate – together with the Government of the Netherlands- once more our commitment to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority ", said the EU Representative Mr. John Gatt-Rutter. "I should also like to take this opportunity, just ahead of the feast of Eid Al Adha, to commend the extraordinary work of all those involved in delivering public services, whose efforts we are supporting through this salary payment, and wish everyone a peaceful Eid.
