Es ist immer wieder interessant, wie der Westen sich seine Feinde bis zu einem gewissen Grad selbst aussucht. Förmlich über Nacht soll nun aus dem Gründer der "Millatu Ibrahim" ein Mitbegründer des #IS werden. Eine wahrhaft steile Karriere für Muhammad Mahmoud - aus seiner Sicht wohl eine Traumkarriere, die ihm nun ein kurzerhand zusammengebasteltes Buch über den #IS zuschreibt. Seriös dürfte diese Hypothese kaum sein. Das Buch bezieht sich auf ein Unterstützungsschreiben vom letzten Februar, in dem eine Hand voll eher unbekannter und bisher nicht übermässig einflussreicher Prediger der damals noch ISIS genannten Partei in der inneren Fitna zwischen den syrischen Kampfgruppen den Rücken stärkten. Damals war die Struktur der heutigen IS bereits Realität. Einziger Unterschied: Noch war sie faktisch keine Territorialmacht wie heute, kontrollierte über ein System von Niederlassungen und Agenten aber neben anderen Gruppen bereits weite Teile des Lebens in Syrien. Zudem ist es völlig falsch den genetischen Prozess des IS auf die Zeit seit Februar 2014 zu beschränken. IS ging wie oben angeschnitten aus der ISIS hervor, welche ihrerseits aus der ISI (Islamischer Staat im Irak) hervorgegangen war, welche ihrerseits aus der Al-Qaida im Iraq (AQI) hervorgegangen war, welche ihrerseits auf den Grundlagen der von Zarqawi in den 90er Jahren gegründeten und kommandierten Gruppe "Tawhid wa l Jihad" im Irak Fuss fassen konnte, nachdem die Amerikaner das Saddam Regime aus dem Weg geräumt hatten. Die fluide Ideologie, welche heute unter dem Banner des IS den Übergang zu einer territorialen Staatlichkeit mit kaliphalem Anspruch vollzieht, ist in ihren Grundsätzen schon älter. Sie tritt vermutlich erstmals schriftlich ausformuliert bei Abd as-Salaam Faraj, einem der Chef-Ideologen des ägyptischen "al-Jihad" und Autor der Schrift "al-fariida al-ghaa'iba" (Die vernachlässigte Pflicht). Faraj wurde wegen seiner Rolle bei der Ermordung des ägyptischen Präsidenten Sadat 1982 in Kairo hingerichtet. Liest man seine Schrift heute von neuem, erkennt man rasch die strukturellen Parallelen zu den Manifesten der IS. Dafür brauchte es keinen Abu Usama al Gharib. Gerade die Tatsache, dass der IS die Wende von der Rebellengruppe zur Territorialität just in der Zeit vollzogen hat, als al-Gharib in türkischer Haft einsass, zeigt doch, dass ihm tatsächlich kaum die Relevanz zukommen kann, die man ihm nun zuzuschreiben versucht. Vielmehr breitete sich die Ideologie seit Faraj in den verschiedensten Farbtönen auf der ganzen Welt aus. Der "Kampf gegen den Terror" und die damit verbundenen Angriffskriege der USA/Nato in Afghanistan und später im Irak haben Keime und fruchtbare Erde endgültig vereint. Al Gharib hat die vorhandene Ideologie 1:1 rezipiert und in Deutschland/Österreich zusammen mit anderen Predigern seines Schlags unter deutschsprachigen Jugendlichen verbreitet. Allerdings und hier werden einige Medienwissenschaftler hart ins Gericht gehen mit den Medien: Durch solche Traumkarrieren-Stories wird Abu Muhammads Realität neu erfunden. Er wird vermutlich nicht zum ersten den Medien für ihre Rolle bei seinen Karrieresprüngen dankbar sein. Diesmal jedoch ohne Zweifel. Schliesslich wird dadurch sein Wort innerhalb des IS-Milieus eine Gewichtszunahme erfahren und nicht nur dort. Auch Muslime, die bisher ausserhalb dieses Milieus stehen oder ihm gar kritisch gesinnt sind, könnten durch die vermeintliche Existenz einer so greifbar nahen Integrationsfigur mobilisiert werden. Die von den Medien transportierte Biografie jedenfalls umfasst die nötigen Aspekte für eine Rezeption als idealen, selbstlosen und gottergebenen Mujahids gewürzt mit Romantik und Lovestory: -Rebellisches, konsequentes Auflehnen gegen ein nicht-islamisches System -Furchtlose Agitation bis hin zur Gewaltanwendung und Aufforderung -Verbot der Vereinstätigkeit -Ausweisung -Studium in Ägypten -Aufbruch in den Jihad in Syrien -Haft in der Türkei -Haftentlassung und Anschluss an den IS -Heirat einer "Chef-Ideologin" und "Dichterin" als Zweitfrau in Raqqa Da kommt die Aufwertung zum vermeintlichen IS-Mitbegründer äusserst gelegen.
