Das türkische Militär schaut weg, so gut es geht. Um 1 Uhr morgens laufen 25 mit Kalaschnikow bewaffnete Männer gebückt und dicht hintereinander durch die Dunkelheit. Eilig steigt einer nach dem anderen durch das Loch im türkischen Grenzzaun. Der Führer der Truppe kennt den Weg durchs Minenfeld. Nach wenigen Minuten ist syrischer Boden erreicht. Die Männer springen auf die Ladeflächen zweier wartender Pick-ups. Der Fahrer tritt aufs Gaspedal und fährt davon. So kommen fast täglich neue kurdische Kämpfer in die syrische Grenzstadt, die seit dem 16. September von der Terrormiliz Islamischer Staat (IS) belagert wird. "In Syrien ist Kobani von drei Seiten umzingelt, Nachschub kann nur von der Türkei aus in die Stadt kommen", sagt Hussein, ein Schmuggler, der selbst erst vor zwei Tagen eine Gruppe von neuen kurdischen Freiwilligen über die Grenze geschleust hat. Er mache das im Auftrag der "Partei", sagt der 27-Jährige. Damit meint Hussein die Partei der Demokratischen Union (PYD), deren bewaffneter Arm, die Volksverteidigungskräfte YPG, Kobani verteidigt. "Sie sagen mir, es gibt neue Kämpfer, und dann bringe ich die rüber." Er ist sichtlich stolz auf seine Arbeit. "Ich tue das für unser kurdisches Volk. Da ist es mir egal, was mit mir passiert. Selbst wenn ich von türkischen Grenzsoldaten erschossen werden sollte." Er sei ledig, fügt er schulterzuckend an. "Ich muss keine Familie versorgen." Seit die IS-Kämpfer ins Stadtgebiet vorgedrungen sind, haben die Schmuggler an der Grenze keine große Wahl mehr. "Noch vor zehn Tagen gab es viele Wege, auf denen man unsere Soldaten nach Kobani bringen konnte. Heute sind es nur noch drei Stellen", erzählt Hussein. Natürlich will und darf er nicht erzählen, wo diese Übergänge liegen. Er versichert aber mehrfach, dass die "Freiheitskämpfer" nicht ohne Waffen unterwegs sind. "Sie bekommen alles mit, was sie für den Einsatz brauchen." Doch mehr will Hussein nicht erzählen. "Das wird mir jetzt zu heiß", sagt er plötzlich. Es braucht ein paar Minuten und etwas gutes Zureden, bis er noch ein paar Details preisgibt. "Natürlich gehen auch Waffen und Munition über die Grenze, sonst könnten die YPG ja nicht so lange gegen die Terroristen durchhalten." Die YPG haben in den letzten drei Wochen unzählige Angriffe des IS abgewehrt. Nach den erfolgreichen Bombenangriffen der US-Luftwaffe ist die Kurdenmiliz am Sonntag sogar in die Offensive gegangen und hat verlorene Gebiete zurückerobert. Hussein ist am Waffen- und Munitionsschmuggel nicht selbst beteiligt. Er weiß jedoch, wie es funktioniert. "Man einigt sich mit den türkischen Soldaten", sagt er schmunzelnd. "Und die sehen einfach mal weg, wenn schwer beladene Lkw über die Grenze fahren." Natürlich sei das nicht am offiziellen Grenzübergang Kobani möglich. Das würde irgendwo am kilometerlangen Zaun passieren, der die Türkei von Syrien trennt. IS köpft angeblich auch wehrlose Zivilisten Ein Geheimnis ist der Nachschub für die YPG in Kobani sicher nicht. Der türkische Geheimdienst MIT weiß vermutlich Bescheid und drückt ein Auge zu. Ankaras Agenten betreiben gerade in kurdischen Gebieten der Türkei großen Aufwand. Die PYD mit ihrer Miliz ist ein Ableger der Kurdischen Arbeiterpartei (PKK) aus der Türkei. Sie hat drei Jahrzehnte lang gegen den türkischen Staat für mehr Rechte für Kurden und einen Autonomiestatus gekämpft. Das brachte ihr in den USA und der EU den Status einer Terrororganisation ein. Doch im Vergleich zu ihrem neuen Gegner liegen die westlichen Sympathien nun eher bei den Kurden. Gerade wird in internationalen Medien wie dem Sender al-Dschasira und der britischen "Daily Mail" gemeldet, der IS enthaupte jetzt auch wehrlose Zivilisten. Idris Naasan, der für die autonome kurdische Regierung von Kobani spricht, weiß nur von Fällen, die etwa eine bis zwei Wochen zurückliegen: "Beim Vormarsch des IS haben sie vor etwa zehn Tagen im Dorf Ninaz, etwa vier Kilometer westlich von Kobani, einige Bewohner festgenommen und geköpft", sagt er. Im Süden, im Dorf Debirk, hätten die Terroristen zwei Männer gefangen genommen, die gerade ihre Herde hüteten. Einer sei geköpft worden, der andere sei angeblich noch in der Gewalt des IS. Es gibt noch weitere solcher Berichte. "Ob auch in Kobani selbst Zivilisten enthauptet wurden, weiß ich nicht", sagt Naasan. Doch die Gerüchte passen zu dem Bild, die der IS gezielt von sich verbreitet. Sie sollen die Angst vor der Miliz schüren. Sie erleichtern es den Kurden aber auch, Unterstützung für ihre Hilfsaktionen zu finden. "Nur Früchte, Gemüse und andere Lebensmittel gehen über den normalen Grenzübergang", versichert Abdi Feisab. "Für alles andere gibt es spezielle Wege." Feisab ist die weibliche Co-Vorsitzende des Legislativen Rats der autonomen Regionalregierung von Kobani. "Wissen Sie, wir haben in allen Führungspositionen gleichberechtigt einen Mann und eine Frau an der Spitze", betont die 48-Jährige. Sie habe oft schmunzeln müssen, wenn in den Medien immer wieder von einer Frau als militärischer Oberkommandeurin von Kobani erzählt wurde. "Man hat ganz vergessen, dass Mayssa Abdo ein Mann in dieser Funktion beiseitesteht. Und als Frau ist sie für die weiblichen Truppen der YPG verantwortlich. Alleine entscheidet bei uns niemand etwas." Auch im großen Depot in der türkischen Grenzstadt Suruc ist das so. Hier gibt es eine Reihe von männlichen wie weiblichen Koordinatoren, die die Versorgung der Flüchtlinge und der Stadt Kobani organisieren. Hunderte Tonnen von Lebensmitteln sind in der riesigen Lagerhalle gestapelt, dazu Berge von Kleidersäcken, Tausende Matratzen und Plastikteppiche. Die Stadt Suruc hat das Gelände ihres Fuhr- und Maschinenparks zur Verfügung gestellt. "Die Zahl von 200.000 Flüchtlingen ist völlig übertrieben", behauptet Hauni Binici, einer der Koordinatoren. "Wir versorgen rund 50.000 Menschen aus der Gegend von Kobani in Suruc. Zwischen 30.000 und 50.000 sind bei Familien oder Freunden in anderen Städten untergekommen." Ankara habe die hohen Zahlen nur verbreitet, um einen Grund für die Einrichtung einer Puffer- oder Sicherheitszone in Syrien vorschieben zu können. "Mehr als 100.000 Flüchtlinge gibt es insgesamt nicht", betont Binici. 40.000 Brote täglich Täglich werden etwa vier Lkw mit Lebensmitteln und Wasser nach Kobani geschickt. "Genau kann man das nicht sagen", erklärt Feisal Salil, ein Parlamentsabgeordneter der kurdischen Demokratischen Partei der Regionen (DBP). "Von den türkischen Behörden an der Grenze hängt ab, wie viele unserer Lieferungen durchgelassen werden." Es ist ein gewaltiges logistisches Unternehmen, das die DBP hier organisiert und aus eigenen Geldern sowie über Spenden finanziert. In einer Küche werden täglich eine Tonne Gemüse und Reis verkocht. Dazu kommen 500 Kilogramm Hackfleisch am Tag und zwei Tonnen anderes Fleisch pro Woche. Yusuf Bitic ist einer der Küchenkoordinatoren. Der 48-Jährige hat seinen Job in der Stadtverwaltung in Van in der Osttürkei verlassen, um hier als Freiwilliger zu arbeiten. "Heute haben wir 10.000 Portionen fürs Mittagessen gekocht und abends noch einmal das Gleiche." Nicht alle Flüchtlinge müssen mit Mahlzeiten versorgt werden. Ein Großteil kocht für sich selbst mit zugeteilten Lebensmitteln. Bitic zeigt den Lagerraum. "Hier liegen elf Tonnen Reis, Nudeln, Linsen, Kichererbsen. Das reicht für die nächsten fünf Tage." Die Bäckerei liegt keine fünf Fahrtminuten von der Küche entfernt. Im großen Steinofen brennt das Feuer. 19 Stunden am Tag wird hier im Schichtdienst knapp eine Tonne Teig produziert. "Das ergibt 40.000 Brote täglich", erklärt der Bäcker am Ofen mit einem großen Schieber in der Hand, mit dem er das heiße Brot aus dem Ofen nimmt.
