(Er war) ein vortrefflicher Diener; stets wandte er sich (Allah) zu!" (38:44) Allah beschrieb Ayyub aufgrund seiner Geduld als vortrefflich, so wird die Person, der es mangelt, wenn es notwendig ist Geduld anzuwenden, als ein Versager und ein Sünder betrachtet. Allah hat ein allgemeines Urteil gefällt, dass wer auch immer kein Glauben besitzt und nicht zu den Leuten der Wahrheit und Geduld gehört, sich in einem Zustand des Verlustes befindet. Dies bedeutet, dass die einzigen wahren Gewinner die Leute der Geduld sind: „Beim Nachmittag! Die Menschen sind wahrlich im Verlust; außer denjenigen, die glauben und gute Werke tun und sich gegenseitig die Wahrheit ans Herz legen und sich gegenseitig zur Geduld anhalten." (103-1-3) Diese Surah kommentierend, sagte Imam ash-Shafi'i: „Wenn die Menschen tief genug über diese surah nachdenken würden, würde es ausreichend Leitung enthalten, denn der Mensch kann keine Vollendung erreichen, ohne diese beiden Dinge zu vollenden, sein Wissen und seine Taten, d.h. seinen Glauben und rechtschaffene Taten. Wie von ihm erwartet wird sich selbst zu perfektionieren, so wird von ihm erwartet andere zu perfektionieren, was bedeutet sich in der gegenseitigen Lehre der Wahrheit zu vereinigen. Das Fundament all dessen ist Geduld." Allah erwähnte, dass die Hauptmerkmale derer, die Heil erlangen, Geduld und Mitgefühl sind: „Alsdann unter denen zu sein, die glauben und einander ermahnen zur Geduld und einander ermahnen zur Barmherzigkeit. Dies sind diejenigen, die von der rechten (Seite) sind."
