Wisse, dass nach der Generation der Sahaba und deren Nachfolger die islamische Gemeinschaft das geerbte Wissen systematisiert haben, um den Islam vor den Irrelehren zu bewahren. Verschiedene Wissenszentren waren damals die Träger des Islam, wie z.B. Medina, Mekka, Kūfa, Baṣra, Damaskus und später Baghdād und der Region von Großen Khorasān. Aus der Wissenstradition dieser Städten herauskristallisierten sich die Fiqhschulen der Großgelehrten, wie z.B. die Fiqhschule von Imām Sufyān ath-Thawrī (gest. 161 n. Hijra), die Fiqhschule von Imām al-Awzāʿī (gest. 157 n. Hikra), die Fiqhschule von Imām Abū Ḥānīfa (gest. 150 n. Hijra) , die Fiqhschule von Imām Sufyān b. ʿUyayna (gest. 198 n. Hijra), die Fiqhschule von Imām Mālik (gest. 179 n. Hijra), die Fiqhschule von Imām asch-Schāfiʿī (gest. 204 n. Hijra), die Fiqhschule von Imām Aḥmad (gest. 241 n. Hikra), die Fiqhschule von Imām Dawūd(gest. 270 n. Hijra) oder die die Fiqhschule von Imām aṭ- Ṭabarī (gest. 310 n. Hijra). Diese Schulen sind keine neue Erfindung nach der Zeit der Sahaba, wie manche denken würden. Sondern diese Schulen sind das Produkt der Systematisierung der Fiqhlehre, welche diese Großgelehrten von den Nachfolgern der Sahaba erbten. Eine Fiqhschule ist nichts anders als eine Methode wie man mit den Quellen des Islām umgeht und wie man Urteile aus den Quellen der Scharia ableiten kann. Die unterschiedlichen Methoden und die unterschiedlichen Interpretationsebenen der Texte von Koran, Sunnah und Aussagen der Sahaba führten zu unterschiedlichen Urteilen im Fiqh.Dieser Meinungsunterschied war sogar bei den Großgelehrten der Sahaba vorhanden und ist keineswegs verpönt. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz Qsagte: „Hätten die Ṣaḥāba keine unterschiedliche Urteile getroffen, dann würde es mich nicht freuen, weil sonst gäbe es keine Erleichterung." ( Imām as-Sakhāwī, S. 70.) Nach der Generation von diesen Großgelehrten und ab dem Ende des 3. Jh. nach der Hijra hat sich die große Mehrheit der Muslime an den Fiqhlehren dieser Großengelehrten festgehalten, sodass kein Gelehrter in Fiqh nach dieser Generation behauptet hat, seine eigene Fiqhmethodik entwickelt zu haben. Sondern alle große Gelehrten dieser Umma hatten eine Rechtsschule und nicht mehrere, wie man heutzutage von manchen Unwissenden hört: „Ich folge allen Rechtsschulen". Die Meister in Tafsīr, in Ḥadīth, in Fiqh, in ʿAqīda hatten alle eine Rechtsschule, nach der sie urteilten und nach der sie Allah dienten. Ab dem 4. Jh. sind nur fünf Rechtsschulen erhalten und ab dem 8. Jh. bis zu unserer Zeit sind es nur vier geblieben. Heutzutage sind drei am meistverbreiteten und zwar die Schule von Imām Abū Ḥanīfa, die Schule von Imām asch-Schāfiʿī und die Schule von Imām Mālik. Ein Merkmal der Ahlu Sunna wal Jamāʿa ist die Tatsache, dass sie seit der Generation der Großgelehrten bis unserer Zeit an den vier von Allah gesegneten Rechtsschulen festhielten. Alle Bücher der Ahlu Sunnah über den Fiqh sind nach einer von diesen Rechtsschulen verfasst. Imām an-Nafrāwī al-Mālikī (gest. 1126 n. Hiğ Jra) schrieb in seinem Kommentar zum Werk ar-Risāla: „Es gibt heute einen Konsens unter den Muslimen, dass es Pflicht ist einer von den vier Imāmen, Abī Ḥanīfa, Mālik, asch-Schāfiʿī und Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal zu folgen und dass es verboten ist von diesen Rechtsschulen abzuweichen. Man hat die Befolgung von den anderen Imāmen außer diesen Vier verboten, obwohl sie alle rechtgeleitet sind, weil ihre Lehren nach ihnen nicht bewahrt und niedergeschrieben wurden" (Imām an-Nafrāwī, 1998, S. 574.) Imām al-Bahūtī al-Ḥanbalī (gest. 1050 n. Hijra), der Verfasser vom Kommentar zu dem Ḥanbali Rechtsbuch Muntahā al-Irādāt, zitierte von dem großen Ḥanbalī Gelehrten Ibn Hubayra (gest. 560 n. Hijra): „Es gibt einen Konsens, dass man den vier Rechtsschulen folgt und dass die Wahrheit nicht außerhalb des Kreises dieser Vier Rechtsschulen ist." (Imām al-Bahūtī, 1996, S. 3/491.) Und der Großgelehrter az-Zarkaschī (gest. 794 n. Hijra) hat in seinem Buch folgendes geschrieben: „Es gibt eine Übereinstimmung unter den Muslimen, dass die Wahrheit nur auf diese Rechtsschulen beschränkt ist. So darf man nicht nach anderen Rechtsschulen (außer den Vier) handeln. Man darf Iğtihād nur innerhalb denen betreiben."
