    Let's talk about equality, why do men earn 10% more than women while working in the same position, in UK?
    Why is it that if a woman wants to return to work after maternity leave, she is often told that she can't have her job back, in UK?
    Why is it that women have higher rate of unemployment than men, in UK?
    Why is it easier to get a job if you're a man, in UK?

    If they want to talk about equality, they should look at what their own system propagates.

    Gender segregation in universities is just a subject that's been raised to fuel Islamophobia, such practices are placed in public anyway thru separating loos, schools even world sports! But when there is a spiritual connection made to the same practices that's already in place BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT.... It's classed as oppressive.

    As Muslims living in the West, we must be confident to go out and speak about the hypocrisy of this debate and make it clear that gender difference in Islam has nothing to do with the superiority of one gender over another. It is used as a yardstick to bash the islamic ideals with so we lose confidence in the divine laws of Allah and conform to their western secular version of Islam- to confine religion at home.     Jakarta International Conference of Muslim Intellectuals 2013

    Within the last decade, the world has experienced political and economic turbulence. Housing mortgage crisis in the U.S. had widened and developed into a global financial crisis that brought down the world's giant corporations. This condition is followed by debt crisis in some European countries. The high increase in debt to GDP ratio (As of 2010, Greece 142.8%, Italy 119%, and Ireland 96.2%) threaten the collapse of these countries. They have tried to pay their debts by issuing new debts, but investor confidence is weakened so that the cost (interest) to issue new debts is even getting more expensive. The derivative impacts are the increasing rate of unemployment and the decline of the economic growth in these countries. Various attempts have been made but the expected economic recovery never occurs. All of these show that the global capitalism is heading to its collapse.

    While America and Europe are experiencing downturn, China seems to emerge to take a greater role in the world economy by maintaining its economic growth above 8 percent per year. Then, where is the current position of Muslim countries in the world's constellation of politics and economics?

    At the same time, Muslim countries in the Middle East have undergone massive political changes. The wave of Arab Spring hadtoppled dictators in those countries, starting from Tunisia, and then spreading to Yemen, Libya, Egypt until Syria. This is a good start for the emergence of a new hope in these countries. However, until now, it is still unclear which direction the change will lead to. Is the Arab Revolution simply a moment to change the regimes or whether is it followed by a change in the system that gives sufficient attention to the economic and military sovereignty? The recent military coup on the new government in Egypt showed that democracy, as a result of revolution, seems ineffective to embody the systemic change in the country.

    Meanwhile, Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim population, is still entangled with economic problems. Although this country grows 6.3 percent per year with the largest GDP in the Southeast Asia region, the current gaps in the distribution of wealth reached record high in the last decade. If there is no significant change in the political and economic direction, this condition might be a time bomb in the future given the signs, such as the surge in crime ratesand social conflicts.

    In the constellation of global political and economic power, discussions about the alternative system and civilization to replace the dying global capitalism find its relevance. The changes that occur in many countries, especially in Muslim countries have given the opportunity for the emergence of a new civilization system. Islamic Caliphate is then raised to be a noteworthy model nation as a solution to the complexity of the problems in Muslim countries. Historically and empirically, this model nation had ever existed and had proven to make the Muslims the best people who created golden era of civilization in human history.

    As a thinking entity, which takes responsibility for Islamic propagation, Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) recognizes efforts considered important and strategic to elaborate the solutions to various problems faced by Muslim countries in the midst of the constellation of global political and economic changes.

    Therefore, HTI takes the initiative to facilitate an international conference involving Muslim intellectuals, either local or abroad to discuss these issues and to formulate the roles and responsibilities of the Muslim intellectuals to bring back the Islamic civilization.

    "In the aftermath of Mollah chacha's judicial murder in Bangladesh, 16 relatives of his, including his son, were arbitrarily arrested and beaten by the police. They were later released but not before the funeral, such that they were not able to attend their own father's funeral prayer. The government has refused to release the body, saying they will take it to Mollah's ancestral home and bury it themselves. The family is therefore denied the right of viewing, prayers and burial, and what little closure and consolation may be found from those. Meanwhile, soon after the execution, ruling party youth leaders attacked the family home in the capital, blockading them within and charging the gates. I have never been so sickened by how base we humans can become. I have never been so troubled at how vulnerable our souls are to the deepest most dire corruption. I have never been more fearful for what lies ahead for Bangladesh."
