Syrian army kills at least 150 militants near Qalamoun
.
At least 150 foreign backed militants were killed Friday in an ambush by Syrian government troops near Damascus, Syria's state television reported.
The attack near Qalamoun, north-east of the capital, killed dozens of what the official news agency SANA called "terrorists".
The agency, citing an unnamed military official, said the dead included militants from the al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front.
The attack happened between the Christian town of Maaloula and the town of Yabroud, where government forces and foreign backed militant groups are fighting.
Syrian state television showed footage of dozens of bodies lying in a mountainous area, with weapons next to them.
The Syrian army also conducted successful clean-up operations across the country on Thursday.
The army continued its operations in the villages of Jadideh, Erbid, Kwairis, al-Zarzour, Mayer and al-Ziyarah in Aleppo, killing scores of the militants.
Elsewhere, in Taftanaz, Maarat al-Nua'man and Maarat Misrin in Idlib countryside, the Syrian army killed a number of the militants after storming their hideouts.
Moreover, in the countryside of the capital city of Damascus, the Syrian troops killed scores of the militants during their mop-up operations.
In and around the city of Adra, members of several armed militant groups were also killed during similar operations.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside the country.

Hezbollah: Chatah assassination targets Lebanon stability
Hezbollah resistance group has strongly condemned the Friday morning assassination of former treasury minister, Mohammad Chatah, saying that such heinous crime mainly aimed at targeting the stability of Lebanon.
The enemies of Lebanon benefit from Chatah's murder, and that this crime is part of a series of crimes and bombings meant to destroy Lebanon, the party said in a statement released by Hezbollah Media Relations.
The statement added that the attack is a "flagrant attempt to target the national stability and unity," noting that no one profits from such blast but enemies of Lebanon.
"Hezbollah calls on all Lebanese to be rational and wise in order to face the dangers which are threatening their country," the statement noted.
The party also urged the security and judicial apparatuses to exert efforts in order to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
A huge car bomb rocked central Beirut on Friday, killing six people including former minister, and leaving cars ablaze and buildings wrecked.
State news agency NNA said that Mohammad Chatah, 62, died as he headed to a meeting in the city center of the March 14 coalition at the mansion of ex-prime minister Saad Hariri. Dozens were injured in the blast.
Chatah, had served as adviser to ex-premier Fuad Siniora and remained a close aide to his successor, Saad Hariri.
NNA news agency gave an initial toll of five people killed and more than 50 wounded in the blast, and said that more than 10 buildings in the area were badly damaged.

بالفيديو، خرق الهدنة وإشتباكات عنيفة بين المسلحين والجيش بالمعظمية
أكدت مصادر عسكرية أن الجماعات المسلحة في مدينة المعضمية بريف دمشق قد خرقت الهدنة باطلاقها النار باتجاه قوات الدفاع الوطني اثناء عملية تسليم الاسلحة الثقيلة للجيش السوري، الامر الذي ادى الى اندلاع اشتباكات عنيفة بين الطرفين.
الاشتباكات العنيفة التي دارت في بلدة المعضمية قرب دمشق خرقت الهدنة التي تم التوصل إليها قبل يومين بين القوات السورية والمسلحين والتي لاقت ارتياحا كبيرا بين اهالي المدينة بحسب ما افاد ناشطون .
مصادر محلية ذكرت ان جماعات مسلحة فتحت النار باتجاه قوات الدفاع الوطني اثناء عملية تسليم الاسلحة الثقيلة للجيش السوري، الامر الذي ادى الى اندلاع اشتباكات عنيفة بين الطرفين .
وتشير المصادر في البلدة إلى وجود خلافات بين المسلحين في الداخل، فضلاً عن أن إزالة الألغام والمتفجرات التي زُرعت عند مداخل الأبنية والمحال التجارية لم تجر ازالتها من قبل المسلحين، في اشارة واضحة لاستهداف القوات السورية اثناء عمليات التمشيط .
وأكد قائد ميداني لمراسلنا أن المسلحين خرقوا الهدنة من خلال إستهدافهم القوات السورية وقنص قوات الجيش والمدنيين على حد سواء، مشيرا إلى أن جميع الطرق والمداخل للابنية والمحال التجارية كانت مفخخة لاستهداف القوات النظامية.
وكثّف الجيش السوري إستهدافه على مواقع المسلحين في مدينة دوما، وقضى على عشرات المسلحين في كمين محكم في محيط جامع الهدى بالمدينة ، كما استهدف تجمعا لمسلحي جبهة النصرة في ( منطقة العريض بمحيط يبرود) ودمر وفقا للمصادر اليات ومعدات عكسرية .
وفي تصريح للعالم أفاد قائد ميداني سوري بأن الجيش السوري طوق منطقة دوما وعدرا، مشيرا إلى تسلل مجموعات ارهابية إلى المنطقة أثناء تطويق الجيش السوري للمنطقة، وأضاف أن قوات الجيش نصبت كمينا للمسلحين وتمكنت من قتل العشرات من العناصر الارهابية.
وفي القلمون قتل ما لايقل عن سبعين مسلحا في كمين للجيش السوري بين منطقتي معلولا والقسطل فضلا عن تدمير عدد من سيارت الدوشكا واسلحة رشاشة ، كانت بحوزة المسلحين .
كما ارتفعت وتيرة الاشتباكات في بلدات الغوطة الشرقية بريف دمشق، لا سيّما في عدرا، في وقت يزداد فيه الوضع الانساني سوءا داخل المدينة، حيث بدأت تنفد كل خزانات المياه بالتزامن مع انقطاع الكهرباء ونقص حاد في المواد الغذائية وفقا لناشطين.

Minister: Iran presence in Syria conference decisive
Syrian National Reconciliation Minister Ali Haidar has described as decisive Iran's presence in the long-awaited international peace conference on Syria.
In an interview with al-Alam news channel on Friday, Haidar said Iran is a long-time friend and ally of the Syrian government and nation.
Iran is a friend of all freedom-seeking nations and its role in the upcoming conference, scheduled to open on January 22, 2014, in the Swiss city of Montreux, is decisive and instrumental, the Syrian minister added.
He said foreign based opposition parties are following their own policies in finding a solution to the crisis, which are mainly in opposite with the viewpoints of internal opposition parties.
Speaking at a news conference in New York on December 23, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Iran should be invited to the international conference aimed at achieving a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
"Iran can play a very important role. It's a very important regional power. Therefore, logically speaking, and practically and realistically, they should be a part of this meeting," Ban said.
Earlier on December 20, UN-Arab League Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi had told media that Iran's participation in the Syria peace conference has not been decided yet due to the US opposition.
Syria has been gripped by a deadly crisis since 2011. According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in the violence.

كشفت مصادر معنية بالتحقيقات الجارية في قضية اغتيال وزير المال الأسبق محمد شطح ل"السفير" أن السيارة التي استخدمت في التفجير هي من طراز "هوندا سي. آر. في" زيتية اللون كانت قد سرقت مطلع السنة الحالية من بلدة الرميلة في ساحل الشوف ورقمها 177647 / ص.
وقالت المصادر انه خلال التحقيقات الجارية تبين أن سيارة "هوندا سي. آر. في" سوداء اللون تعود للمؤهل في قوى الأمن الداخلي ايلي ف. كانت قد سرقت من منطقة ساحل الشوف وقد ضبطها الجيش اللبناني على أحد حواجزه عند مدخل مخيم عين الحلوة بعد ايام قليلة من سرقة السيارة الاولى(الزيتية) وكان يقودها أحمد أ. الملقب ب"ابو الداوود" الذي اعترف أثناء التحقيق معه بأن المدعو موسى م. ومحمد ص. الملقب بـ"محمد السريع" اشتركا معه في سرقة "هوندا سي. آر في" الزيتية حاملة الرقم 177647/ص التي انفجرت في موكب شطح، وقال "ابو الداوود" ان هذه السيارة أدخلت منذ فترة الى مخيم عين الحلوة وأعطيت لشخص يحمل اسما حركيا ويدعى "طلال الأردني".
وتضيف المصادر أن موسى م. و"محمد السريع" ينتميان الى "فتح الإسلام" ويأتمران بأوامر القيادي في التنظيم هيثم الشعبي.
وأشارت المصادر الى وجود موقوف حاليا في سجن روميه المركزي في قضية السيارتين ويدعى مرشد عبد الرحمن (من غير التابعية اللبنانية) ويتم إخضاعه للتحقيق حاليا من قبل الأجهزة المعنية وقد اعترف أمام المحققين أن سارقي السيارة المفخخة موسى م. و"محمد السريع" أدخلاها فعلا الى مخيم عين الحلوة وأنهما ينتميان الى "فتح الاسلام

واكد مصدر طبي اصابة احد المدنيين الفلسطينيين اثر اطلاق طائرة حربية اسرائيلية صاروخا على حي الشيخ رضوان شمال مدينة غزة.
واوضح شهود عيان ان اضرارا وقعت في عدد من المنازل المجاورة.
كما نفذت طائرة حربية غارتين بالصواريخ على موقع بدر التابع لكتائب القسام الجناح العسكري لحركة حماس في منطقة المغراقة جنوب مدينة غزة، اسفرتا عن اصابة شاب فلسطيني واضرار جسيمة في الموقع الذي كان تعرض مرات عدة سابقا للقصف الجوي الاسرائيلي.
وكان رئيس الوزراء الاسرائيلي بنيامين نتانياهو حمل في وقت سابق قادة حركة حماس مسؤولية اي هجوم من قطاع غزة، وذلك بعد سقوط صاروخين في الكيان الاسرائيلي.
