Das Wort "Mohammedanismus" wird als Gegenstück zum Christentum gesehen, welches Assoziationen zur Dreieinigkeit Gottes im Christentum hervorrufen kann. Doch gerade diese Dreieinigkeit (Vater-Sohn-Heiliger Geist) wird im Islam abgelehnt: "O Leute der Schrift, übertreibt nicht in eurem Glauben und sagt von Allah nichts als die Wahrheit. Wahrlich, der Messias, Jesus, Sohn der Maria, ist nur der Gesandte Allahs und Sein Wort, das Er Maria entboten hat, und von Seinem Geist. Darum glaubt an Allah und Seine Gesandten, und sagt nicht: »Drei.« Lasset (davon) ab - (das) ist besser für euch. Allah ist nur ein einziger Gott. Es liegt Seiner Herrlichkeit fern, Ihm ein Kind zuzuschreiben. Sein ist, was in den Himmeln und was auf Erden ist; und Allah genügt als Anwalt." (Qur'an 4:171) "Wahrlich, ungläubig sind diejenigen, die sagen: »Allah ist der Dritte von dreien«; und es ist kein Gott da außer einem Einzigen Gott. Und wenn sie nicht von dem, was sie sagen, Abstand nehmen, wahrlich, so wird diejenigen unter ihnen, die ungläubig bleiben, eine schmerzliche Strafe ereilen." (Qur'an 5:73) Um den Islam überhaupt verstehen zu können, wird es notwendig sein, seine Bedeutung klarzustellen. Der Name dieser "Religion" wurde nicht von den Menschen erfunden, sondern von Allah (t) in der Offenbarung des Qur'an selbst bestimmt. Das arabische Wort "Islam" bedeutet: Erlangung von Frieden durch Unterwerfung unter Allahs Willen; also absoluter Gehorsam Allah (t) gegenüber, dessen Gebote im Qur'an verankert sind. Der Islam gilt nicht nur als Religion, welche den reinen Monotheismus verkörpert, sondern darüber hinaus als eine weltweite Nation. Er ist eine bestimmte Lebenseinstellung und Lebensweise, um das ewige Leben nach dem Tod zu erlangen. Das Wort "Muslim" wird abgeleitet vom Substantiv "Islam" und bedeutet: jemand, der durch seine Unterwerfung unter Allahs Willen zu vollkommenem Frieden gelangt ist. Der Muslim ist ein Mensch, der Allah (t) als den Einzigen Gott anerkennt, sich Seinen Gesetzen und Befehlen unterwirft und Seine Gebote befolgt. Diese Ergebung seines ganzen Ichs in den Willen Allahs ist gelebter Islam. Das bedeutet, daß Denken, Handeln, Verhalten und Reden des Muslims vom Willen Allahs bestimmt werden. Die Folge davon ist, daß sein ganzes Leben im Einklang mit dem gesamten Universum und dem allumfassenden göttlichen Gesetz steht, was wiederum Voraussetzung ist für das ewige Leben nach dem Tod. Der Muslim glaubt an Allah (t), den Einzigen Gott, an alle Propheten - angefangen von Adam über Abraham, Moses, Jesus, usw. bis Muhammad, Allahs Friede auf ihnen allen, an alle Seine Bücher, die Er offenbart hat - Thora, Psalter, Evangelium, Qur'an, von denen das letzte seiner Bücher das gültige Gesetz enthält.
