Diese beiden tapferen Brüder unternamen Dinge, um die christliche Invasion in Maghrib zu stoppen und wurden auch erfolgreich. Die Algerier, welche wussten, dass die Europäer nur darauf warteten Maghrib erobern zu können, fanden den Ausweg darin dem osmânischen Khalifen Yavuz Sultan Selim einen Brief zu schreiben, wo sie erklären, dass sie ihm zu Dienten stehen. Die Übersetzung des Briefes: "Dies ist der Brief von den Richtern, Gelehrten, Imâmen, Schülern, Händlern, Vertrauenswürdigen und restlichen algerischen Volk an den Sultân. Zunächst übermitteln wir unserem Sultân [Yavuz Sultan Selim] unsere Bittgebete, dass er viel Erfolg und Siege haben soll und schreiben Ihnen anschließend noch: Sie haben einen hohen Rang bei uns und jeden Tag glauben wir mehr daran, dass wir Ihnen mehr Respekt zeigen sollten. Wir möchten Ihnen all unseren Respekt zukommen lassen. Doch dieser Brief dafür ist nicht ausreichend. Mit ihren Triumphen freuen wir uns. Wir sind so sehr an sie gebunden, dass wir daran glauben, dass unser Vertrauen an Sie jeden Tag in jeder Hinsicht besser werden wird. Wir stehen Ihnen zu Befehl. Wir wünschen Ihrem ehrenvollen Amt das Fortbestehen. Die Berichte unserer Leute über die Tyranneien der Feinde von Allâh und die Hilfeleistung der Muslîme an uns ist lang. Doch die Kurzfassung ist: Nachdem die rasenden Kuffar Andalusien besetzten, kamen sie zu der Burg in Wahran. Um die anderen muslimischen Ländereien anzugreifen übernahmen sie die Provinz Bejaia und Tripolis. Nur noch unser Gebiet Algerien ist noch übrig geblieben. Wir sind wie ein einsamer Punkt in einem Kreis. Schockiert und fassungslos. Die Kuffar haben uns von allen Seiten eingeklemmt. Deshalb haben wir Zuflucht bei Allâh gesucht. Die Kuffar haben uns versucht in ihre Gewalt zu bringen. Wir haben keine andere Wahl gehabt als uns zu ergeben und zu gehorchen, damit unseren Frauen, Kindern und unser Hab und Gut unversehrt blieben. Anschließend übernahmen die Kuffar Wahran, Bejaia und Tripolis. Sie haben mit ihren Schiffen versucht, uns gefangen zu nehmen. Genau als das passierte, kam der große Mujâhid Oruc Bey zu unserer Rettung. Wir haben ihn empfangen und haben uns gesagt "Er (Oruc Bey) ist ein Geschenk von Allah an uns". Er hat uns gerettet. Zuvor ging er nach Bejaia rettete und eroberte Bejaia zusammen mit Mujahid Faqih Abdul Abbas Ahmad bin Qadi zurück. Einige der Kuffar konnten fliehen und einige wurden dort getötet. Die Muslime waren siegreich. Danach kam Oruc Bey von dort aus zu unserer Hilfe. Nachdem Oruc Bey in der Schlacht von Telmesan zum Shahîd wurde, wurde sein Bruder Hayreddin ein guter Nachfolger von ihm. Historically we know that under the rule of Khilafah minority groups were protected because of the implementation of its Islamic ruling. It is only the Islamic ruling which can provide unfettered security for the life, blood, religion, honor and property of the people of other faiths. The Khilafah is not a theocratic state for the Muslims only. Rather it is a state for all peoples and non-Muslims are treated equally as citizens of the state. They cannot be coerced to change their religion, no discriminatory policies against them can be adopted by the state nor can any type of harm be allowed to come to them.
